Ehud Lamm posted a request for PL predictions in 2008. I can’t help but wonder what will happen … but as far as the functional aspects of programming languages go, there are several things I would like to see in 2008. I have to decided to list these in the form of future blog titles … let’s see how many of them actually come true.
Austin Functional Programmers grows by an order of magnitude.
Jon Harrop completes and publishes F# for Scientists 2 months ahead of schedule
Real World Haskell gets completed and is followed by a wave Haskell enthusiasm in the professional programmer community. Haskell jobs are plentiful.
I finally have an explanation for monads that doesn’t require further explanation.
I tell people that I am a professional functional programmer, and no awkward silence follows.
What would you like to see happen?
